What to do? Itching is driving me mad!!!

about an hour ago I started itching like I do when I've had too much sun or fluoresent light. I was inside my classroom all day with UV filters on the lights. So I don't think it's the culprit.

It started just a little on my elbow like always. It quickly spreaded from my shoulder down to my wrist, across my back, down my other arm, and areas on my face!

I bathed myself in hydrocordisone cream and used a hairbrush on the itching.

Help! Is there any other possible solutions?

There's no hives, just an itchy feeling.

Itching is the worst.   I have had itching reactions that have ranged from no hives or visible irritation or problems to hives to flushed areas, to red lines.  The itching you describe is like what I get when my liver levels are elevated, esp. bilirubin. This can happen from meds but a simple blood test can help.  I have really low bilirubin, even zero and still get it sometimes and it is helped by a powdered medicine called Questran, a bile acid binder.  Benedryl sometimes helps, but sometimes doesn't.  I buess what I'm trying to say is that if it is something from meds affecting your liver, then its good to know and there are some meds to help.  There are some things the docs can suggest besides more meds too so it might be worth checking it out instead of going at it with a hairbrush.  Hope you feel better.  Oh, also, I never get yellow but itching from liver problems that is relieved by Questran. Different people have different experiences and reactions.

Well, you still might want to get your liver levels tested. Sometimes meds will cause this and they can switch around how you take them or whatever they need to do. It may be working up to something worse. Putting on a bunch of hydrocortisone cream can thin the skin with repeated use. Histamines are produced by the liver as well as bilirubin. You might try writing down what time you take each med you take and then the time when the itching starts.
