Also physical therapy (especially pool therapy) is great during a fibro flare up. Patty, I too suffer from fibromyalgia and during an attack can barely get out of bed. I respond well to pool therapy, the trick though is to not over do it.
An horrid example of over doing it during pool therapy: Your doing great and all, then in the deep end of the swimming pool you lose complete function of not one, but both legs. Luckly, I happen to be a great swimmer, with lifeguard training. I alerted the staff of the issue of not being able to move my legs. Swam to the shallow end to the stairs with railing and tried to "stand" but landed on my butt back in the pool LOL.... It took 3 people to lift me and put me in a wheelchair they had at the clinic. I had to actually go to my folks house because I couldnt even go take a shower on my own. They kept me for a week, in a wheel chair and walker til I could take care of myself again.. To make this even more worse.... I'm only 30 (most of the group will call me a youngin now hehe). That was the last time I didn't listen to the therapist about "your gonna overdo it if you keep it up". From there on, if he stated I would over do it, I stopped.
