Had anyone been on therapeutic levels of coumadin and still experienced a clot? Frightenened by this prospect.

I was dx with antiphospholipid syndrome after son was stillborn, have not had any blood clots since and not on any meds as have Crohn's and cannot take aspirin and doctors wouldn't want to consider anything else unless I have a clot. Sorry, that's not really a lot of help, have you had a blood clot, I presume so for them to test you and hope that this med works for you and someone can come along soon with more help to put your mind at rest.

It's unlikely that would happen. Coumadin/Warafin is supposed to thin the blood out. Now if you were taking other medications that interact with the anticoagulant then there might be a chance you might develop a clot. That's why you should always listen to what your doctors tell you and not take any O.T.C (Over The Counter) medication without consulting your primary doctor first. That's what I've been told anyway. I checked out the Hughes Syndrome website(Hughes Syndrome is another name for the antiphospholid syndrome). They discuss the debate over Coumadin levels. They also site one research study of 1,000 people with this syndrome , who still clotted despite anticoagulation. I read the study and started to panic. It still haunts me!
