Chalazion / advice needed

On Monday I noticed some irritation on one eyelid. Tuesday it was swollen. By Wednesday it was worse so I went to opthamologist who disgnosed Chalazion and prescribed warm/hot compresses several tmes a day and TOBRADEX eye drops 4 x a day + TOBRADEX ointment at night. It is now Saturday, six days later, with eye worse.

Does this seem like good advice? Is it usual that a Chalazion will get worse after initial appearance and after treatment has started I am away from home for work which makes me less secure about medical care. At what point does surgery become necessary? How long should I go on with this treatment?

This started Monday and it's now Sunday. I started the eye drops, ointment and hot water with cloth treatment Wednesday. It is definitely worse. My vision is somewhat affected as the swelling is preventing total vision. I am getting worried as I am overseas and wouldn't want surgery here. The doctor seems competent and the therapy I am following would seem correct I go back to see the doctor in a few days. The fact that is has become worse in the last couple of days worries me. Any further thoughts?
