I have had slightly more oral mucas this week than usual. Then last night suddenly started getting hoarse for no known reason. By this morning I had severe laryngitis. Since I do volunteer work with senior citizens, I went to the local Urgent Care Center to find our it I had caught a virus, etc. that could be contagious. The PA saw no inflammation in my ears, nose, or mouth; tested me for Strep Throat and it was negative. He said I was not contagious, that it could be related to the high Red Cedar allergins in the area recently and that the Laryngitis could have been caused by that. Note: When I was previously tested for allergies due to chronic hives, the tests revealed NO allergies at all.
I've never had allergic reactions causing my previous bouts with Laryngitis. They had all been caused by a virus or infection, plus teaching school, or cheering too loudly at a ball game.
Since I have SLE Lupus, that can attack any part of your body with inflammation, I just wondered if it could have been triggered by my Lupus? Or, could it be caused by my CPAP for Sleep Apnea, even though I have had the CPAP for years and have never seen the link between CPAP and Laryngitis?
Today's PA gave me a steroid shot and had me get Sudafed to take. The excess mucas has decreased but I still have no voice other than a whisper.
Any Lupus patients ever had anything like this?
