Plaquenil side effects?

I apologize for starting another thread but I still want answers in the other thread and I though this one would get more people to look at it if I started a new one. I took my first dose of Plaquenil about 430pm. Now it is 130 am and I feel funny. I do not know iris related for sure. I am on pain meds but I have been on them for awhile and they have no made me feel this way. I also just started a water pill.

What happens is for like thirty seconds my brain will go fuzzy. It effects my vision to. It is like being on too high a dose of pain meds. I don't know what to do. My husband says I should stop taking it and call my doctor on Monday. But I feel like since I do not even know that is why I feel this way I should keep taking it because it takes so long to take effect. I do have tons of other health problems.

If I cannot take Plaquenil what will they give me?

Some people get an upset stomach for a few days until they get used to the Plaquenil, but I have never heard of symptoms like you are describing.

It might be Plaquenil or it might be the water pill. I suggest stopping one or the other and see if symptoms improve. I would probably stop the water pill first, as I think it's more likely to give yo these symptoms and it gets out of your system faster. But stopping either would work.

Sadly, sometimes we just have to experiment a little. Hope this helps.

Hello, I agree with Lynnwood. It's all about trial and error with new meds. One thing I've noticed with myself, is if I take my methotrexate shot and my plaquenil pill within 2 hours of each other the dizziness and headaches and massive nausea commences. After figuring out what was going on, I have certain times I take each of my meds. I wind up taking pills all day, but it works for me.
Plaquenil does affect people differently and it does take some time for you two to adjust to each other.

Thanks everyone. I am not sure it was the Plaquenil. I went to the eye doctor. He said my eyes were fine but I do have dry eye. I started an eye drop regimen and started taking the Plaquenil with last meal instead of first and this are better.

I am wondering if the water pill was getting rid of too many electrolytes causing your symptoms. It can really cause low potassium which can cause you to feel that way. has that feeling happened any more?

I agree with Lynn, after 7 years of reading all about plaquenil and user experiences, I have never seen those listed before, but certainly doesn't mean it couldn't be!
