Hey everyone, Im new to this so this is my first post.
WELL i have lupus. i was diagnosed in march 2012 when i was 15. ive had it for about
a year and a couple months now so which makes me 16 and almost 17. also a NEWBIE to lupus.
i have to say , with this disease my experience was HORRIBLE at first. the first year, i was in and out of the hospital almost every two weeks. JUST for joint pain , fevers, swelling , and chest pains which was pericardial effusion. . . .which was painful . well of course the first months are tough because your trying stablize. well usually people would be stable after 6 months. well it seemed the first six months i was progressing , i was getting worst. My parents were so worried because they thought i should be stable by now but i was sick as a dog in the hospital for almost two weeks. well after six months i started to take my illness more serious. KEEP in mind, at a young age HAVING a illness like this kinda ruins your life at first. because one day i went from being a cheerleader in school to having to be homeschooled and quit everything cause i was in too much pain. so it took me awhile to mature and take it serious. i honestly think the only good thing i got out of this illness was maturity. i appreciate life more now.
WELL enough of that, back to what i was saying .. . .
after six months i was still bad but not as bad like with fevers but i still had chest pain and they had me on a high dose of prednisone which is the worst. i was gaining weight and get the moon face and getting depressed.
well , one day i just woke up and stopped feeling sorry for myself and starting EAT right and exercise and take medicine.
and let me tell you that HELPED SO much. i know everyone says this but it truly is true. ITS ALL WHAT YOU EAT. with lupus , you cant eat high sodium stuff, junk food , or fast food.
now you dont have to be so strict on yourself , but try FOR ONE MONTH eat nothing but HEALTHY food.
fish, chicken , veggies, fruit. now dont starve yourself. but trust me youll feel A WHOLE LOT DIFFERENT.
once youve done it 28 days , your body wont feel the need for junk food. but if you do , just moderate yourself. once a week go eat a burger and fries. but NOT MORE THAN ONCE.
exercise is only if you feel depressed or feel overweight especially with prednisone (steriods) which make you feel like a huge ball of fat and uglyness. but TRUST exercise helps with depression. like after i started working out, i felt so much better about
my self and felt happy especially after a while people started to notice and compliment me on how much thinner i gotten. which is a PLUS.
but
ANOTHER TIP. which helped me,
FISH OIL PILLS or SALMON OIL PILLS.
they say those babys are SOOO good for people with lupus. and let me tell you , they are. after taking them for three months i GOT so much better. like i know it cant just be the pills but in combination of eating right and exercising and drinking this. i felt like a new person.
TIP #2
drinking green tea. the natural green tea like the tea bags. that is so good for you cause its helps with inflammation which is the enemy in LUPUS. and it also helps with weight loss and its healthy for you with or without lupus.
TIP#3
it can be kinda pricy so if you dont have the money , YOU DONT HAVE TO DO IT. but from my exprience HERBAL LIFE. its a company if you dont know what it is , just look it up. but i started to drink their tea and aloe vera juice which is SO good for inflammation and bowel problems which means if you have trouble pooping or even if you dont it helps detox your body from the nasty stuff in your tummy. the reason i started this was because i was having alot of stomache problems because of the prednisone. the dcotors told me from taking so many pills my stomache was getting holes nd thats why i was always having stomaches and nausea. well after i started this i went to the restroom more and my stomaches went away after a week. but the thing with herbal life is once you start your body gets used to the natural healthy stuff and if you stop your body kinda feels yucky. thats the bad thing , and its kinda expensive. but for those who can afford i just wanted to tell you about
this wonderful thing. but at least try and and see how you feel.
any ways i know this is REALLY long but i had alot to say afterall it is my first time.
anyways, for a couple months after a year i was DOING GREAT. i got off prednisone and went on this new treatment called BENLYSTA. which is wonderful , because ever i started ive seen results. PLEASE IF YOUR ON BENLYSTA I WOULD LOVE TO KNOW YOUR THOUGHTS AND CONCERNS. but anyways, after a 2 months of being on benlysta they took me off prednisone and all my medications which was a awesome. and i was doing fine, i felt like i wasnt even sick. i mean i did have my bad days where i felt tired but no fevers, no cheat pain , and no joint pain.
i dont wanna write anymore but ill write on how im doing now ina new post. but i hope these tips help you all sturggling with lupus, and at least try these before you give your opinion. may all you have a blessed day. (:
