Did not think that the dna patterns associated with AI diseases had been identified. AI diseases tend to run in families but not necessarily the same ones. Given what is known about
AI that would make sense. An immune system that is genetically susceptible to disruption or weakness. Something comes along in life that triggers an attack. That trigger would vary from individual to individual even with a similar genetic makeup. Lupus in one case and something else in another.
I have mctd and so does my youngest sister. There was no evidence of AI disease in our family with anyone so it seems like we are the groundbreakers. She has had a life of substance abuse and I have lived a pretty healthy and moderate life...so figure that out. 2 siblings in the same generation with the same disease but nothing in common otherwise.
In the next 20 years there will be a better understanding of AI diseases on a cellular and even dna level. My guess is that very specific treatments will start appearing within 10 years. Probably too late for me but great for you youngsters.
