Infected hair roots

Man oh man you get them all don't you. I've had lupus for 26 years and I've never heard of lupus causing ingrown and infected hairs on our heads. This is a new question, I have one for you. I know that you use a cpap machine.

I know with my machine that I develop ingrown hairs along where the headgear sits at the base of my neck. Or they can even come up as whitehead on my check where the straps sits.

It's possible that your headgear is whats causing them. If you truly think they're related to your lupus I'd recommend you see a dermatologist. Sorry,I don't feel like I was a lot of help. Hang in there joy and I sure hope they heal up.

Never thought it was associated with Lupus, as I've had this problem on/off since long before Lupus, but ...

I do get little pustules of infection across my scalp from time to time. They are at the root hairs like yo describe. I can't remember exactly what the Dr called them years ago, but he said to mix betadyn 1/2 & 1/2 with shampoo and use that a few days till they went away. It still works!

I wonder if washing the headgear regularly with alcohol or betadyn or something might also help with the irritation of the CPAP.
