Hi,

I hope everyone is having a good evening. I have been on here off and on, while my doctors searched for a cause for my symptoms. I saw my rheumy again today and she said I have a "lupus-like inflammatory disease" but my blood work is non-confirmatory for lupus. She is treating me with plaquinel (spelling?) after I meet with my eye doctor to discuss it.  Since my blood work is normal she is not comfortable giving me steroids, so we are using NSAIDs on a regular schedule.  and then using cold weather avoidance/protection for my newest issue- Raynauds.

Has anyone else been told they have a "lupus-like" disease, but not lupus? Did plaquinel help? I know its slow acting, but I am hopeful for some relief within a few months.

What she sounds like is she's not positive either way and wants to see if plaquenil will help you feel better. If it helps she might move over to the lupus diagnosis.
In my bloodwork I tested positive on ana, crp, and esr. The doctor went mainly with my symptoms and those three for my diagnosis.

I'm from Romania so if my English is not very good I'm apologizing. My story is: I have no any symptoms yet but I found that tests like ANA and anti-DNA ds are positive. Maybe you are curious how I have found this.... a nurse friend made for me a full set of blood tests, so I went to a doctor who made me an overall checking and he told me that in this moment I'm healthy but in the future I need to pay attention to any kind of symptoms because it's possible to develop a bad condition. I don't know what to do.... it's like I'm living in a long waiting for the disease. I want to point out that I have been living in Texas for 1 year. Do you think that I have to go to a doctor in Texas and ask for a second opinion?

If you are not experiencing any symptoms then don't worry. There are people with positive ANA who never develop lupus.

But if you are worried go to a rhuematologist and get checked out.

When I read this forum I realized that other people have serious problems and my post is childish :). Maybe I have to learn from these people to be a fighter because until now I have already buried myself ...

I'm so happy that I discovered this forum :)
