Hi all,
I posted a while ago, still no answers, getting worse. It started with a headache that never went away, and things just went downhill from there. For 3 months now I've been dealing with a headache, numbness/tingling, left side weakness, slurred speech and balance issues, complete inability to concentrate, memory loss, digestive issues, lack of appetite, some joint pain, and increasing troubles with swallowing.
I'm under the care of a neurologist right now who feels it is very likely MS - I'm getting an MRI in January to confirm/deny. I did some research of my own and advocated for myself by pushing to have more blood work done on stuff that my doctor wasn't going to consider, and it has steered us in a different direction from MS - lupus.
In my latest blood work my ANA and my scl-70 came back positive, my urea is low, my lymphocytes are low. When this all started I had blood work done and found that I am also anemic and have hypothyroidism. My doc thinks that this is very suggestive of lupus, so she is sending me to a rheumatologist to confirm.
I don't know much about lupus at all - I guess I'm just posting to see if anyone has had a similar experience to mine in terms of symptoms or blood work? As far as I know, lupus can't be diagnosed by blood results alone, which is why I am seeing the rheumatologist, but it seems like it's a possibility now.
