I've always been a excellent driver.... No wrecks, speeding tickets, or close calls that were my fault.

Today I was driving my BIL around in the Very Big City of Simpsonville and I did something very out of the ordinary. I ran a red light from a stopped position! nono shocked

I had pulled up to a red light and stopped. Then as pretty as you pleased I turned left just missing two cars. skull skull

This scared me, because I'm beginning to notice I'm having issues while driving. Last summer I forgot I was driving and nearly ran into a ditch. I also noticed that my vision has good days and bad days.

Do any of you have trouble driving?

When my Lupus was at it's worst I barely drove for about 3 years. (That's why I have a 14 yr old car with less than 60,000 miles on it!)

I would look up and not know where I was, even if it was the end of my street where I've lived 35 yrs. Freaky to run errands and not find the car, and even if you do find it can't figure out how to get home. Forgetting what you are doing (ie being distracted by who knows what) is really not good while driving.

SO yes, I've had trouble driving. Even now that things are so much better, I sometimes have days when I just know it would not be a good idea to get in the car. I am very fortunate - I live within walking distance of the grocery store, and I have friends who will drive me if necessary.

Please do the smart thing and don't drive if you have any doubts about your abilities!

This has happened to me too, many of times! I'll forget if I've stopped at stopped sign or forget if a light was green! Usually if I come to realize that, I'll head straight home. It's scary and not worth the risk of getting in an accident. I was going to talk to my Rheumatologisgt about forgetfulness and forgot....how ironic. Lol

I might let my niece become my driver on bad days. She loves driving my Grand Am. She wants it when I get a new car.
She drove me home yesterday and is taking me to the movies today.

I have done that and I have gone to turn right and I've turned left instead even though I was meaning to turn right. I've stopped at green lights and i've run through red lights swearing up and down they were green.

I've learned that when I'm not feeling well, I don't leave the house.

I love driving, but my general rule is "if I feel bad mentally or physically I don't drive". However, Tuesday was an exception. My BIL asked me to drive him on a few errands and my sister was working. He's had a stroke and not allowed to drive.

OMG, this happens to me to frequently. Once I saw the red light, I knew it was red but I didnt even slow down. My daughter was in the passenger seat and yelled at me. Had she not, we both would have been dead. I just stopped in time. I have considered not driving.
