pneumonia exposure

My brother came to visit this past Saturday and was coughing something terrible everywhere. He though it was reflux causing it...nope! He went to the doctor and found out he had pneumonia.

Everyone is becoming sick in our house now. Both my mother and I have had the vaccine but it doesn't seem to be preventing this.

I'm coughing, sniffling, and hear slight wheezing in my chest.
Have any of you caught pneumonia and have had the vaccine?

I have never had a pneumonia shot and now it seems like even if you get a shot you can still get it so what is the point of getting 1? Can someone give me a real good compelling reason I should get 1? I have never had it but there is always a first time.

It just seems if I get shots to prevent something I wind up getting it a couple months after.

Got the flu shot last year and 2 months later got sick and had to go to the dr and he confirmed it was the flu, he almost hospitalized me, but I managed to talk him out of it. Then went and got the shingles shot and sure enough almost 2 months later came down with the shingles. That was really painful, got them all over my lower abdomen and round on my back. Not something I want to go through again. Dr had given me an antibiotic shot but that didn't help so he had to give me a prescription cream to get rid of it.

Ugh! I hate being sick!
I just finished a nebulizer treatment and still hear asthma noises. Everyone in the house sounds terrible.
I'm coughing but no gunk yet. That's my indicator I need to see the doctor.
Everything's closed here doctor wise until Monday unless I I travel to the bigger city.
