My aunt has lupus. And so does a cousin. I have had the lupus symptoms as long as I remember. Here are my symptoms; rash across face (covers bridge of nose and cheeks), reoccuring pleurisy, anemia, joint pain (i even have rashes on my joints and chapped skin!), random fevers, nerve pain, and so on. My doctor ran the ANA test on me and it came back negative for lupus. I'm so discouraged to what's going on with me. Has anyone had a negative test before? That rash on my face gets so hot and it's so noticable!
Thanks!

Lupus is NOT diagnosed by a single blood test. You can have a negative ANA and still have lupus. Follow the links in my signature to understand about
the 11 lupus symptoms - got 4 of 11? See a rheumotologist. While other Drs might think they can diagnose Lupus, rheumies are the only ones trained in diagnosis and treatment of auto-immune diseases.
Let us know how it goes!

Should I ask the neuro or GP to refer me to a rheumatologist? I have the type of insurance where I need referrals. I see her Thursday (I have pluerisy again! Third time in a matter of months). Thanks for the reply!

What about
joints getting very dry and flaky! The joints of my wrists, fingers, and skin on my knuckles are so dry, they are even split! They hurt tremendously. This is a new symptom I have developed.

I'd ask for a referral, if that's the only way to see a rheumy.

Try rubbing baby oil on the rough spots. You can also try "Working Hands Cream".

My mother used to call me that cause I loved tv as a kid. I'm still a bit of a spud because my illnesses prevent me from getting out of the house most days.
