First Appt. with Rheumatologist

Hi, I am new here. I hope I can come back from my Rheum appt. today and be happy to unsubscribe from here but all indicates that I have L, I can't even write it!!!
I researched on the net, I have it and possibly more.
My ANA direct is positive and Smith antibodies 5.6 this is so high according to the normal range..I am so scared!

My left shoulder and right knee joints started aching for the past 3 months started almost the same day..not big pain i can handle the pain..it is just scary the thought that it can progress and who knows what else is happening in there…with my organs..…before that I was in great health, so I think…I do have a thyroid condition since I was 20 and take synthroid never had any symptoms for it. I am almost 45, female.

I hope everyone can get/feel better and I am so so sorry for the children who are sick..I was reading some posts here, and it is so sad.

My appt. is in one hour. First appt. with rheum. Doc… will probably order more specific tests. I will post when I get back. Wish me luck. :(

Basically she said to stop stressing myself over the internet info. She requested more specific blood work to be done and scheduled another appointment for 2 months from now….I just see this as 2 more months of agonizing uncertainty.

Did you know that we can make ourselves sick by thinking we are sick? And that Lupus and other auto-immune diseases are some of the most susceptible to that ?

So until the next appointment, I suggest you focus on getting good restorative sleep, eating regular meals at regular times (maybe minimize sugar/junk food intake as needed) and getting some mild regular exercise - like walking to the mailbox.

Do the things you need to do, don't let yourself worry about the future (or the past), keep focused on and enjoying the present experiences... worry will only steal from you todays enjoyment.

Yes, Thank you. I am trying to do that. I am usually a happy, positive person but this all has me scared..I woke up feeling better(emotionally and physically) this morning and you are right I need to focus on the present and trying to do that. Thanks again for the nice advice!
