Lupus can be very difficult to diagnose since many symptoms are present in so many other diseases and conditions. Diagnosis is usually through clinical symptoms and labs but some cases are not that certain and it can take a long time to get a diagnosis.

www.lupus.org/answers/topic/diagnosing-lupusDon't hesitate to get another opinion but make sure the doctor (rheumatologist preferred) is experienced treating lupus and other autoimmune diseases. It does make a difference since can be so hard to diagnose.
