Hi, need some help reading test

Hello all....I was diagnosed with "rheumatoid arthritis" by my regular doctor after reading my results and saying possible lupus and to see a Rheumatologist and Endo Specialist. I am waiting to see a Rheumatologist on Wed and an Endo on Thurs., but looking for some guidance.

Here are some of the results I received that were not normal on the report:

TSH 9.720
EBNA Ab/IgG .8.0*
EBV CAPSID .8.0*
ANTI-Tpo > 1000 HI
ANA Titter 1:320 HI
Ana Pattern: Nucleolar and speckled.


Any thoughts?

Your thyroid level is too high. Your ANA is high.

You can check out labsonline.com to see what it all means, but you still need to wait for the doctor to tell you exactly what it all means.

Hi Madie - I think the EBV refers to Epstein Barr Virus-(possibly the EBNA also) which causes Mono and other things. Sometimes it's used to rule out another source of fatigue and malaise. But, interestingly, it is also associated with AI disorders such as Lupus and RA and Sjogren's - and often a precursor to autoimmune problems. I believe the testing can tell when positive, if it's in an active phase (acute Mono) or a latent or chronic phase. It's just good to know there is a connection between it and the other abnormal labs/symptoms/possible diagnoses. Like all things autoimmune - specifics are murky. I have had problems with chronic EBV and my ANA patterns are almost always speckled and nucleolar as well. Good luck with your rheumie appt. - good to have questions in hand.
