Is it as bas as people say it is?
Currently on plaqunil twice a day, 600mg ibuprofen 3 times a day. Prednisone makes me so sick.
I can't get rid of the pericarditis it just keeps coming back
Is anyone on imunor and what kind of side effects do you experience?

I've never taken this drug you have mentioned. I looked up imunor on the internet and if I'm reading things right this is a drug to boost your immune system.

Which you should never do when having lupus. We take drugs to suppress our immune systems so that our disease stops attacking our bodies.

I suffer from severe pericarditis and my cardiologist put me on colchicine 0.6mg twice daily. This is a gout medication but it works wonders to control my pericarditis. The bad thing is it can cause diarrhea really bad, I know if I take 3 a day of this, I can never make it to the toliet. So, on 2 a day I do okay with that.

I would suggest you contact your Rheumy and ask them about this drug imunor and if it is going to boost your immune system. If they say yes, I'd ask them why would they want to do that, because we normally are busy suppressing our immune systems.

According to the net this drug does cause stomach, nausea, vomiting and such. I hope you can figure out things about this drug before taking it. If it were me I'd want to be very certain as to what it is and why they want me to take it.

Thank you for checking up on it ill definitely ask. I'm almost certain my Rhemy said it would supress it but with my memory I can't be certain. I was on colchicine too and prednisone they aren't working for me unfortunately and now I'm starting to have neurological symptoms. The diarrhea was terrible I remember! Lol I seen online that it makes you loose major hair like chemo I was wondering if that was accurate no one seems to know this med though! Thank you again so much for checking up on it and being so compassionate.

I think this drug is used when cancer patients get high doses of cytotoxins that damage bone marrow resulting in fewer rbc, wbc and platelets being produced. Although all of these blood components can be affected by lupus I have not heard of imunor being used for lupus patients. It might have application in extreme cases but I am only guessing.

I would ask lots of questions about using this drug and how it would impact your immune response overall. Lupus is a case of a misdirected immune system not a weak one but this drug seems to address bone marrow problems causing blood deficiencies.

Hi Leesha, do you mean Imuran? Imuran, Methotrexate and Cellcept are often what doctors try if plaquenil alone does not control the lupus. I tried the Imuran and had a very bad reaction. Doctor switched me to CellCept and that has helped with all my symptoms. Everyone responds differently to meds so doctors often try different meds until they find one the patient is comfortable with.
