Bulbous Nose

I know this sounds weird, but has anyone had their nose swell at the tip? My nose looks like I hot glued a ball to the end. I have never gotten the butterfly rash although sometimes I get a blush across my cheeks.

Hi Kimstph. For several months now my entire nose is frequently red. No Rudolph though. On the rare occasions that I feel up to applying makeup, it usually doesn't cover the redness completely. Clinique does make what is basically theater makeup, but I'm not concerned enough to buy it. Discoid lupus causes thickening of the epidermis (outer skin layer) so you should probably talk with your rheumy or a dermatologist knowledgeable of autoimmune issues. I hope this helps some. My nose is always red, has been for years. There are times it is worse than others but pretty much always some redness there. The only time it gets bulbous is when I get one of my blisters on it. I tend to get blisters on my face when I'm flaring on my nose, forehead and chin. I just chalk it up to another weird type of inflammation telling me that I need to slow down and/or see the doc.
