Hey Lynnwood, sorry to hear the feet are giving you grief again. I think Amy may be on to something by suggesting it could be nerve pain. I gave Amitriptyline another go for nerve pain (its prescribed as often as gabapentin now for calming nerve signals) and it has made a tremendous difference in my pain levels when nothing else worked.
I believe nerve pain can be episodic, mine waxed and waned before the Amitriptyline. Sometimes I still get the odd minimal flare up of it.
Also I think that prednisone would help in this regard as it would stifle the inflammation in the nerves that are causing the pain and burning. When I over do it I will have more irritation, my carpal tunnel is a perfect example of this. I can go for weeks with no problem and over use the wrist or lift something improperly and bam! Sparks, pain and burning for days.
Gabapentin and Amitriptyline are much less harsh than the prednisone. I agree that it would be worth looking into.
