Throat closing

hey. I have this awful sensation of my throat closing over! I've had it before and thinking hard about it I'm wondering if its related to my flares?? does anyone else get this feeling??

Are you having trouble swallowing? What is your diagnosis? Lupus? Any others?

I have lupus and polymyositis and swallowing difficulties are called dysphagia. Due to muscle weakness caused by poly I could not swallow anything and had a feeding tube for several months until speech therapy restored my ability to swallow.

You should consult an ENT doctor to diagnose what is causing your problem. They will often do a video swallow test to see what is actually happening. Of course, there are other possibilities which is why you should see a doctor asap.

Lupus does also occasionally cause swallowing problems.

Hi,

I do have this horrible sensation of closing of the throat, but i have diebeties, I wonder if it is the medicines as i am taking many more as painkillers for other ailments. I advice you to consult a doctor, I have to sip water at night very often.
