For people with acne

Every once and a while I see someone come on here checking to see if their adult acne is the result of lupus. It doesn't take on the shape of butterfly rash and other people mention having it, but it's not a sle symptom.

I have the same problem and most of my doctors are just assuming it's acne and shrugging it off. I recommend seeing a dermatologist, saying you have lupus or may have lupus (whatever your status is), and mention cutaneous lupus and ask for a biopsy of one of your pimples. It seems people with cutaneous lupus are prone to calcinosis which can look like acne on the face because the lupus damages soft tissue.

I do get acne as well, it's not HORRIBLE... but it's kind of obnoxious.

I really think acne is common with most people. I have combination skin, oily in some places prone to outbreaks, dry in other places prone to flaky skin.

Surely, it still wouldn't hurt to get a biopsy. I might recommend that if they push the lupus diagnosis on me.
