livedo reticularis-HELP

Hey everyone,

Im 25 and about a year ago i had this rash looking thing on the bottom of my right leg. i never went to the doctor because it didnt hurt or itch so i figured i was fine.  Over the year it has become darker.  I had a doctor visit yesterday and he said that it was LR but that it was nothing to worry about.  Clearly by reading everyones posts it seems much worse than he made it out to be.  heat seems to make it worse, and its only on the front of my leg. does it usually wrap around the whole leg or does it stay in one spot like i have it? I just got done running two miles and it does seem lighter, im guessing because more blood is flowing? I'm going to start exercising more regulary to see if that helps:/  Its just so ugly and summers coming up:( does anyone know if tanning will make it worse or maybe cover up some of the net looking rash? Im thinking if i tan it might blend everything so my LR is less noticable, but im also afraid that the heat or direct light might just make it look darker. The doctor practically gave me no information at all! so frustrating! how do u know if u have gotten to the stage where the LR has become perm?

I've tried tanning before and it doesn't do anything, it just makes the spots darker if anything. I've even tried spray tan I got from sephora, and that didn't work either, but maybe that was just because it was bad quality. I recently got the st. tropez spray tan, but haven't tried it out yet. I find that, the best thing to do is to wear nude stockings, unfortunately it's difficult to find one that's just opaque enough to cover it but sheer enough to make it seamless.

And the doctor told me you can't tell when or if it'll go a way (and that it most likely won't go away), but I found something online on some medical website saying that if you heat it up and it doesn't go away, then that means that it is permanent. She also told me however that it is nothing to worry about because it doesn't necessarily mean something's wrong with you, it's just something that's there without any explanation, especially in younger women in their teens/20's. I've had numerous tests all proving that nothing is indeed wrong with me so if you haven't yet, I suggest you do so just to get that piece of mind.

As I said in my earlier post, I was 15 when I got it, and I am now 19 going on 20 and it's still there, loud and proud... unfortunately. Mine started out on my calves, but then went all the way up my thighs, and somehow, skipped my stomach and lower back area but managed to show up on my arms as well, though not as obvious as it is on my legs. I hope yours goes away but I've learned to accept that I'll never be wearing shorts or skirts without stockings and that I'll need to invest in a pair of long, relatively feminine-looking board shorts for public pools/beaches.

Thanks that did help. I guess I should get a second opinion and visit another doctor. I was thinking of trying the spray tan too to see if that helps. I wish I would have went to the doctor when I first noticed it but since it doesn't itch or hurt I didn't thing anything was seriously wrong with me:(

i was curious if you got any info on how to treat this wheather it be vitamins or diet etc. I have livedo and it started about 2yrs ago it was only in my inner leg right beside my knee now i have it all over and it sucks when you want to wear clothes in the summer but the livedo looks so yucky
