Low c3 and Low c4/ question

I was diagnosed with having a lupus a couple years ago as you may know from my prior post. I had a positive ANA and low C4. I had blood work done a few months ago and it showed now a negative ANA however not only are my C4 serum levels low however now my C3 serum levels are low. I have never had both be low before and I have been feeling very ill lately. My Rheummy doesn't seem to think this is an issue.

Has anyone ever had both low? Is this more of an issue than what my Dr is making it out to be? I am really starting to think about getting another rheumatologists opinion.

Is your Dr treating you for how you feel? That is more important than what your blood levels show.

Part of the reason I say this is because none of my rheumies have ever even tested C3/C4. They've watched disease activity from 1) reported symptoms, and 2) blood inflammation markers.

Are you under any ongoing treatment? Plaquenil, Prednisone, Cellcept, Imuran, MTX, Benlysta, anything?

Right now I am not on my plaq due to severe gastro issues I have been having. My rheumy wants me to hold off.

Both my C3 and C4 run low. My C3 is 70 (should be 83-193) so it is just a little low. It has been down to 56 before. My C4 is 7 (should be 15-57). The lowest my C4 has been is 6.

My rheumatology checks it every time but I'm not officially diagnosed with lupus - I have "possible lupus". I'm not a typical case I guess.

I've read that low C3 and C4 with positive ANA generally means lupus.
