Hope everyone is well. I have read that a symptom of lupus is low grade fevers. Has anyone had low body temperature? I have taken my fever almost every day this week and it is always around 96 degrees. Seems awfully low. Anyone experience this?

My temperature for many years has been 96.8 - they say normal is 98.6, but not true for me.

By "low grade fever" they mean 1-2 degrees above normal. For me that would be 98.8, for a normal person that would be 100.6.

Mine is always around 96 or 97 degrees.

Mine used to be 97.6 or 98. Lately it's been lower.

Hi Lisabeans. Since Lupus my temperature always runs low but I also get what I call the "the hot/ colds" where I'm freezing for an hour then get hot. Yet my internal body temp is low.

Body temperature, as in all medical numbers, is a calculation. In this case someone way back when measured temperatures of (hundreds?) of people who weren't sick and most were 98.6 degrees, but everyone else had a temperature lower or higher. I hope this helps. Love, Butterflake

Hi,

When I start having one of my mild lupus flares (swollen lymph nodes, headaches, butterfly rash, generally ill feeling and achy) I feel like I'm running a fever when I'm reality I'm usually around 96 or 97. I can relate and agree with what butterflake said about the hot/cold flashes.

I would keep monitoring it and maybe keep a log of temperature changes but like others have said don't rely too heavily on it. Everyone has a different normal!
