Hi, everybody. I’m Jenifer and I just being diagnosed with lupus. This is so terrible and makes me stress. Initially, I have fatigue and fever without reasons. My skin is also sensitive whenever going out though I apply sunscreen. Joint pain increases every morning, it’s especially severe when the weather changes. My disease takes nearly 6 months to have the right diagnosis. My doctor just recommends me steroids and prednisone. Who can share experiences about lupus with me? I wanna look for support! Thank you!

Your symptoms sound fairly normal for Lupus. Try not to stress - stress itself makes our symptoms worse!! Right now my symptoms are more active, just because I'm holiday stressing!

I am a little confused by your statement My doctor just recommends me steroids and prednisone. Prednisone is a steroid. Perhaps you are getting Prednisone(corticosteroids) and Plaquenil(Hydroxychloroquine)? Prednisone addresses inflammation, and reducing inflammation reduces pain. Plaquenil, on the other hand, inhibits disease progression, and takes 2-3 months to build up to a therapeutic level in your system. These 2 medications are very often the first prescribed to newly diagnosed patients.

Thank you! I wonder why I only receive Prednisone while the prescription is written steroids and prednisone. Thanks for telling with me. I'm trying to reduce my stress now as I often have stress from my family. I see many lupus patients have to change lifestyle and diet. Should I change them?

I also have been diagnosed with lupus, but my symptoms are knee pain and fatigue. My doctor gives me corticosteriods and supplements. She also asks me to pay attention to diet. I have to cut down processed and fried foods. Besides, she encourages me to eat more vitamin D, E, B12 and omega 3s foods. I hope this information will help you

thanks for your reply! I'm so stress and worried about my symptoms. I don't know how I can overcome my disease. I need more time to accept the disease. In this stage, I just take medicines and focus on daily diet, whether lupus is relieved with this treatment.

It may help relieve your disease. I'm taking medicine, supplement and focusing on diet. Though my disease isn't reduced completely, knee pain is esaed a little. I think lifestyle, diet and supplement are important. I try to join club and do anything I like. This helps me reduce stress. You should take more time to rest, if you wanna heal lupus. I see you're under pressure. Don't worry!

Yep, I'm under pressure, but I'm also trying to manage it by doing yoga. Thanks for your advice. I'm gonna take supplements as I can't eat meat or fish. What type of supplements you are taking?

I'm taking vitamin B12 and lupufree supplements, I take them at the same time with medicines. I think you should ask your doctor carefully before using. As my doctor recommends them, I can be sure to take. If you can't eat meat and fish, you should eat more vegetables and fruits which have essential nutrients. Doing yoga is effective, I also do it, but it may be little bit hard for me in the first time.
