Hello,
I’m reaching out cause I’m so frustrated! I went to the doctor to follow up on a goiter and to discuss some symptoms I’ve been having the past couple of years (red cheeks, sensitivity to sun, dry skin, joint/muscle pain, back pain, chest pain at time, headaches, mouth sores, red spots on legs, blood in urine, and fatigue) he did a bunch of lab work and only found that my vitamin D level was low and my ANA was positive and showed a titer of 1:160 and a speckled pattern and my Anti-RNP antibody was slightly elevated. My doctor said that he thinks there “may be” an autoimmune disease developing but there is not enough information to diagnose or put me in a box so we will just wait and see. He also said my goiter is prob due to an autoimmune disease but again my thyroid levels are fine now but prob won’t be later on. He also said he didn’t want to refer me to a rheumatologist yet. So he decides to put me on Minocycline for my facial redness which he thinks could be rosacea. Well right after I start taking it, I felt terrible!! I had nausea, fevers, swollen tender lymph nodes, muscle aches, brain fog, etc. Then I read that people with autoimmune disease shouldn’t take Minocycline...great! I stop the medication and I go to urgent care to see if I could get a steroid or something and tried to explain the situation...nope she thinks it’s thyroid storm (due to high temp and high vitals) and sends me to the ER. I go to the ER and they think I’m crazy. I’m not in thyroid storm. The lady wonders if it’s Mono but I never got checked for Mono. They even drug tested me. I left ER with a script
of ibuprofen. Meanwhile I’m still feverish with swollen tender lymph nodes
I hate doctors! No one knows how to help and I’m getting depressed!
