I have Lupus and Hep C, my insurance says I'm not sick enough to qualify for Harvoni so they won't prescribe the treatment for me. My Dr said previously he won't treat my Lupus until I treat my Hep C. Has anyone ever been in this situation. I feel like I was run over by a truck and no one seems to be able to treat me.

I don't know much about the treatments for Hepatitis C, but it looks like there are treatments besides Harvoni. Maybe your insurance would cover one of them? Seems like your Dr (I would guess a PCP or GP) would be able to help you find a Hep C treatment you could afford.

Alternatively, I wonder if your rheumatologist would be able to help make the case to your insurance company that the Hep C requires treatment?

We are primarily a group of people suffering from Lupus, so don't know how much help we can be. Sorry.

This website does also have a Hepatitis Forum, maybe you could post over there and people with more Hepatitis experience could help you out.

Thank you for your comments. My Hep C Dr did try all the other medications available and I was denied those as well.

I was hoping to find someone that also has both conditions and see how they handle it. I have had the lupus longer than the Hep.
