Anyone here taking Trazodone? I've been taking it for over 15 years for sleep, 300 mg every night.

I've been having intermittent vertigo issues for the last couple of years, with the episodes becoming more frequent. ENT had a number of ear tests scheduled for tomorrow. (ABR, ECochG, and VNG).

Now he's saying the Trazodone will interfere with the testing, and I have to come off of it for 48 hours. Which means no sleep for at least 2 days, which at minimum will ruin me for the next week, and worst case will kick off a Lupus flare.

So, if anyone is taking Trazodone for sleep -- any signs of vertigo? Willing to discuss this situation with me? Frustrated here!

sorry, I can't help you.

Vertigo is terrible, my husband has had it a couple of times.

I hope you can get this problem resolved.

Hi Lynnwood,

Sorry to hear you have to come off of your Trazodone to have the test done. Sorry as well that you’re still having issues with vertigo, it’s a horrible feeling for sure. I took trazodone for many years and did not have any vertigo type issues myself. Hopefully that’s not the problem, but I sure hope they get this figured out for you quickly.

Hello Lynnwood, it's been awhile since I've been on here but I saw your post and I'll take a whack at trying to give you some of my dealings with Trazodone. I also use it for sleep and my fibro. I can only take 1/4 of a tablet nightly. I have tried to work up to a full tablet only to have all of those weird voices tell me negative things and was seeing things. Needless to say I am back to my 1/4 to 1/3 of a tablet now. From what I understand it passes through your system relatively fast however, it will give you some wild withdrawal symptoms no matter if you take a light dose such as mine or your dose. I got nosey one evening and tried that theory. yup, I was a no sleeping, massively tossing and turning ball of anxiety for that night. Not to mention the next day very jumpy and a grump. Trazodone does make me kind of weird for a bit-I think on several tracts so talking to me can be either be frustrating or an adventure. It does make me very sleepy 20 minutes after taking it then I start leveling off. I hope this helps, of course like with all meds, different levels of symptoms for every person.
