Eye pain

is anyone else dealing with lupus related eye problems?MY eyeball and socket hurt all the time,even the underside of the brow bone feels like it has been beat to crap! I know there is nerve damage and rim ulcers and this one stumped the doctors for 3 years-it is so nice the opthemologists receptionist is on the ball,every time I managed to nail down an appointment date,she called to rebook...I want to be patient,but finally got angry and said it was time to ''bump'' some one else,it takes MONTHS to even get an appointment with this guy,but after 5 calls of''gee,I'm sorry,the doctor is in surgery,out of town,on holidays,blah,blah,blah,...we need to reschedule ...'' My lenses were needing to be changed 3x in less than a year-$455(progressives) for the lenses each time-we are only covered 1x each 2yrs..I haven't taken the 2 additional changes since this fall-total of 5 changes in just under 2yrs(in april)...and what this chick figures this doesn't warrant an appointment that sticks?!!!
SORRY'SORRY'SORRY!!! I didn't mean to ramble,I'm frustrated and scared,I was told that it is not ''common'' for lupus to affect the eyes and am finding it hard to believe,there is no way I am the only one that has such problems,does anyone know what could bring me relief?
THIS appointment is April 6th, I'm probably the most scared because I understand there is little tissue that separates the eye and the brain,,my mom lost an eye years ago and that's what they told her,am I just freaking out because of the pain? Or are they schmucks?

  I hope you get some answers when you see the eye doc. I have some eye pain, redness and infections from Sjogren's, but not like you described. I hope its nothing serious and can be easily treated. It sounds like you need some relief very soon. Let us know what you find out and take care. You will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Never have had what you are describing but my eyes constantly feel dry and burning.  I also suffer from ocular migraines since December or so.  I hope you feel better soon.  I would get an appointment with your primary doctor.  That is who I went to and she was able to diagnose the problems and give me some eye meds to use.

I have Eye STRESS! They are running all the time. Burning at the corners. Constantly running like I am crying. They swell up. Hurt. Ive never had allergies. This really has only been going on for the past couple months. Any ideas on that...??? I havent posted anything about this because I didnt think anyone would have this problem. I know its not the same probLem as the one posted but I just thought I would throw it out there just too see...

It helps to avoid: light, such as light from cmptr or tv, from houselights or store lights, esp. floursecent, avoid sunlight, don't read or do too much fine work - use OTC saline eyedrops (NOT red-out stuff) -- make sure you aren't getting dehydrated....get enough sleep

You are so cute. I posted a reply on the eye twiching thread but I didn't know what OMG is. I do get eye ulcers also by the way and have had eye lashes fall out and more than one per follicle too! I always thought that was just normal though! I have had many needles in my eyes though and all you do is focus on something in the backround, like the Dr's. face. I dont remember any freezing though. But you probably WILL need someone to drive you home. I always do after eye exams. I can't see well as it is and after all the things they do, it's impossible to drive in L.A. traffic after being dialated or shot with a needle. It hurts but not too bad. It sounds worse than it is. It's just like taking blood. It hurts a little but nothing you can't handle. I assume you have a high tolerence for pain like most of us Lupies do. So if youre like me, you'll hang tough. Good luck. I started having eye pain around the sockets, under the brow of both eyes. It's mostly when touched, even slightly. ( Checking into this problem with an Opthamologist resulted in the discovery of a benign brain tumor that has nothing to do with the eye pain.) Now that I am looking at a possible Lupus diagnosis I am starting to examine all possible symptoms over the last few years. I all have also started having "aura's" in my vision that usually precede 1 to 2 day migranes. Anyone have this Aura issue?
