Can anyone recomend a good dr. at Kirkland clinic in Birmingham, Al. I don't like my rheumy because he doesn't explain anything to me.   Linda

sorry,not from your area,but understand the frustration with a rheumy that explains little or nothing,''the look'' is getting on my nerves! do they not teach vocalization ?

Hi Linda,

   I live in Alabama but, I'm about 2 1/2 hours from Birmingham. I have been to the kirkland clinic a few times but it was to see a neurologist and to the seizure clinic. My daughter goes to UAB. I work in a doctors office and will see what I can find out about the rheumies at Kirkland clinic. Our office refers patients there alot, but I'm not sure about rheumies. I will have to do some digging to find out who would be the best to see. I will let you know what I find out.

Hi Linda,

   I have a couple of doctors names if you want to call the kirkland clinic and ask about these doctors. They both specialize in connective tissue disease, immunogenetics, lupus, ra, and vasculitis.

  1. Dr. Winn W. Chatham

  2. Dr. Robert P. Kimberly 

They are both at this number:

 205-801-8187 if you are near UAB or 1-800-333-6543 ex. 18187 if you are out of the area.

Good luck with this and let us know when you find a doctor you think you will want to see. Take care.

Im not sure if you are still looking for a good RA doc in Birmingham AL but Dr. Bell was wonderful. He was near Baptist Monclair in 2000. I was mis-diagnosed with RA because I have a kidney disease (Henoch Schonlien Purpura) and the symptoms are very close to RA, it hurts about that bad too. Hope this helps.
