My doctor put me on 30mg of Cymbalta last week for nerve pain.  Have any of you tried this?  If so, what was your experience?

I take 60mg for depression. I noticed a big difference within a couple of weeks. No side effects. I don't have nerve pain, so I'm afraid I can't help you there.

I have been on Cymbalta a couple of years ago for my depression it worked fine for a little while and then I started craving chocolate and put a lot of weight on.

Also keep a watch for becoming more depressed. I did that after long use.

Thank you for your quick responses. I am not on it for depression so I hope it wont cause me to be depressed. I am actually on it for a lot of pain. I can barely sleep due to the pain but the last couple of nights I have finally slept a bit. I am hoping this helps and that I don't develop any side effects other than the bothersome dry mouth that I have noticed since taking this. I normally carry water with me and drinks lots and lots of it. Maybe I will chew gum - that may help with the dry mouth, eh?

Patty- I am so glad that it has helped with your depression.

Veronica - I am sorry it made you crave chocolate so much and even more sorry that you then became more depressed. I hope you are much better now.

What is Cymbalta?  Is it a pain killer or antidepressant?  Never heard of this one.  I hope it helps you with your pain.

I'm on Lyrica for nerve pain and it makes my fatigue worse although its great for the pain. Are you noticing whether the Cymbalta makes you more tired or fatigued? I would love to get off the Lyrica, especially since it costs a fortune.

My understanding of Cymbalta is that it is an antidepressant but it is also being used for pain such as nerve pain. I tried it shortly after it came out and I didn't have any luck with it, but I found out that I get some of the weird and rare side effects from most antidepressants so I can't take them. I tried several to see if they would help some with pain and energy levels. I know that some people have great results with Cymbalta and have even heard that some people report that they have more energy while taking it. 1bucfan, I really hope you get good results from Cymbalta and that it helps to control your pain. I take neurontin for some peripheral neuropathy and it works pretty well and helps me sleep.

Well, I am no longer taking Cymbalta.  I took it for 5 days and was told to immediate quick taking it when my doctor realized I am allergic to it.  I had dilated pupils for 5 straight days, was not sleeping well, had the most horrendous headache and my bp was sky high, my vision was fuzzy and I was having trouble talking.  I hate that I am allergic to it - because I was so hopeful that it would help with the nerve pain.   I hope that anyoone else taking this will have much better results from it.
