Woke up with entire right leg totally numb and had to crawl >>>

To the front door at 2:00 AM to let my dog out. I dont know why she had to go in the middle of the night. But Why would my leg be soooo numb? I mean it was like I was stepping in a hole.. I cannot figure out why it would be so numb. I could not feel anything at all. It was not even tingly at all. Just totally numb. No feeling whatsoever. I fell to the ground.. And crawled! After I let her out.. I Pullled myself up onto our couch. and stood on one leg becasuse the other one was still numb. It slowly slowly came back and I had to hop back to bed. It was so scary and its all I can think about. I am worried. I do have poor cirulation in my body but I just dont know how something like this could happen.. Please let me know if anyone here has ever had this happen or what it may be... Ahhh the only thing I can think of is 9 months ago I had back surgery and the right leg was affected. THat foot on the top is still numb. It may be that way forever. But I wonder if there is any connection to that surgery and this whole thing... Because I had bouts of numbness in my leg and foot and would fall down alot.. Anyway.... Let me know if anyone has any help for me.. ) = thanks guys..

With all of your back problems and surgery etc, you really need to call your dr. and report this. Let them decide what's going on--if anything. And then let us know!

You could have been laying on your leg the wrong way and it fell asleep. The fact that it 'came around' after a bit of standing up is a good sign. let your doc know but try not to worry too much.

One time I fell asleep on my side and I guess the pillow was hitting my eye just right. I woke up and couldnt see out of that eye. It was so frightening! Everything was white and blurry like I had vaseline in my eyes. I called my physician and they told me that I probably slept wrong and pinched a nerve in my eye.

It resolved in a few hours.

I had all that neck surgery and we were talking for a while about necks and backs. I have a lot of numbness and have had numbness in my legs like you describe, especially after sleeping, like your whole leg falls asleep, the scary thing is it doesn't want to wake up for a long time. My doc told me with my arms that it was the nerve root pinching and if I bend my arm a certain way, I can make it go numb. You might want to insist on a myelogram and/or nerve conduction studies. I just live with my problem because I know what it is and the surgery I would have to get next would be really awful and leave me in much more pain and probably only temporarily fix the numbness. I hope your bed is a good one for your back. You might try sleeping with a pillow between your legs if you don't already to see if it makes a difference. Maybe a stint on muscle relaxers or traction might be somethng to ask about. Maybe they can help you out non-surgically this time. I hope you feel better. My son is having the same thing, in both legs, when he misses his epilepsy medicine or is late in taking it and we have to talk to the doc about that. Well (((hugs))) and don't forget to mention to the doc.
