Hi Everyone:

Sorry I've not been around much lately. I've been reading the posts, just haven't really been up to answering any of them lately.

As most of you know, we're moving and it's this week. We've got tons of stuff to finish prior to the movers coming in and packing everything. They'll be here Wed, Thur, and Fri. I'll be unable to access the site until probably Tues next week. My mother in law will arrive tomorrow and she'll be here until the 17th to help unpack and put stuff away. She'll also do any cleaning that's necessary, whether it's at the new house, or the one we're leaving. Nikita's room is painted purple so it needs to be repainted.

Of course, I'm not feeling well at all. I've got sores all over my gums, tongue, roof of my mouth. My white count is up, and my incision is open. It opened up 24 hrs after the staples were removed. So I'm packing the wound with aquacell every three days. I've got a whole about 1" long by about 2" deep in my chest. It's sore and doesn't seem to want to close at all. I'll see the surgeon again on Friday the 13th. Needless to say, no lifting or moving stuff for me. This truly is going to be a test on my nerves. I can't stand living out of boxes, and my home not being settled with curtains and photos up. Anyway, I just wanted to pass on the update. Don't look to see me after tomorrow evening until probably next Tues or Weds.

Hi Barb, I was thinking about you today but I didn't want to ask how you were. I was afraid you were so busy with the moving that I'd bother you. But trust that you are always on my heart and in my prayers. I'm glad you have someone willing to help with the move. Man I feel sorry for ya. I'm still living in boxes and it's been a year. I did put some pictures on the walls finally but none of the family photo's. Just count to 10 alot. On the other hand I am so excited for you. This is going to be a new chapter in your life. I know it will be scarey but you are strong and you will do just fine. It may be the best thing that ever happened to you. Boy that wound sound pretty nasty. I hope it isn't getting infected. That's all you need. Thank you for the update. I'm sure I would have been on here asking where you were any day now. I hope it doesn't take long to get your puter up and running.

You take care of yourself and let us know when you can. I'm sure you have people you can call on here that will give us an update if you don't get the puter going right away.

Hi, Barb,

I'll be thinking of you during this move. Its sure to be hard on you and all I can say is that I hope you don't do too much because you know just where it will send you. And to think that you're going into this not feeling well. I think any move is difficult to say the least. Even if someone else is doing most of the packing and the cleaning, there are so many decisions to make and organizing to do. I'm like you, and don't live living around chaos, and boxes signify chaos to me. Just take the time to take some deep breaths and sit and rest whenever you can. I'll be anxious to hear how the moves go and will be looking for your posts next week.

Hi Barb,

Good luck to you. Lots of positive thoughts and energy coming your way from me. Nikita and the purple room made me smile (as that is the color of the walls and the rug in my daughters room). I say, don't paint it. Anyone moving in with a daughter will just have to paint it purple again.

I know you will stand up to the move both physically and mentally as you are a strong woman and we are all cheering for you.

Barb, thanks for giving us an update. You have so many people here who care about you and worry about you, so we always like to hear from you. You will definitely be in my thoughts and prayers during your move. Moving is hard enough on healthy people, so please don't overdo it during the move and take your time unpacking. I hope that having your M-I-L with you will be helpful and won't add to the stress. We'll look forward to hearing from you after you are settled. Love and hugs

Hey, there you are! Glad to see you are hanging in there and very happy that you are getting some extra help. Thank the mother-in-law for us, it is very kind of her. Sorry to hear about the gape in your chest, make sure to watch your temperature and for possible infections. I get those sores in my mouth and throat when I get infections sometimes. They are uncomfortable. Did the doc say why the high white count? Perhaps healing in your chest. I hope it heals soon. Takes forever for me too. Boooo...

Try and let things ride. I'm sure you will be fine, but not the time to push it. Ah yes, that dreaded patience. Virtues are over-rated sometimes. Can't say it is my best either. I usually just close my eyes and repeat over and over that "this will pass" and after the tenth one I smile at how retarded I sound and why am I so worried about it in the first place. Moving is a life changing event, but not the end of the world. Plenty of time to torture yourself later I say.

Barb,

  ((((Hugs)))) I know this move is going to be hard on you sweetie. I hope it goes alot smoother than your thinking it will. Since your MIL is very healthy I'm sure she will get alot of things done and will have Bill and Nikita working hard too.... :-) .

  You just sit back and point to where you want your things and let them do all the work. You may not have your internet service by now, but I did want to post anyway.

   I'm sorry to hear your having such a hard time with the port and the sores in your mouth. I hope the doctor can do something for you tomorrow. Hang in there and take care of yourself. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Ohh Barb you sound like you have way to much on your plate right now. I hope you continue to heal and that you can get settled in your new house as easily as possible. Good luck and don't overdo it if at all possible.

Barb I am so sorry that your not healing well. I know how that is. After my major abdominal surgery (incision from two inches above belly to pubic bone) I had continued bleeding from a surface vessel. It kept the wound from healing. I had to have the staples removed and to open up wash out and pack the whole thing twice a day. WHAT A GIANT PAIN!

I was more disgusted with that than with the whole surgery.

You are in my thoughts and prayers every day and night.

Does your Rheumy have you taking Folic acid for the mouth sores? Probably but just thought I would check.

Hi Barb.  Every day seems like a trial for you and I'm so sorry.  I've moved many times, but since lupus I really can't stand the thought.  The chaos really upsets me.  Try to get some rest (the operative word is try)!  Love ya Sis.

Barb, I know this is a tough weekend for you and I hope it's not pushing you over the edge. Hopefully your MIL, Bill and Nikita are able to do most of the work so that you won't get worse than you already are. My son and his wife just moved and all I did to help was to put shelf paper in their kitchen and it just about did me in.

We're all thinking of you and will be waiting to hear how your move went. I hope you love your new place and that you get settled in real soon. And take time to rest!
