Lupus Rash Question

Hi Everyone -

I thought I was through with the whole Lupus world when I was DX'd with Lyme, however it seems I have a very painful rash all over my torso, chest, shoulders and arm pits, as well as yesterday had the bright red facial mask under eyes and over nose, today the mask is not so bad. 

Went to the Dr (pcp) and he gave me a steroid shot and a script for methylprednisolone.  I also called my neuro's office on this and with the positive ANA that I had a couple months ago, was suggested to call a rheumotologist and get an opinion from them. I guess my question is, is a lupus rash painful and does it itch?  My knee and shoulder joints are aching really bad with this rash, but they ache most of the time anyways.  Thanks for your help.

I am new to dx. When I get the rash it is only on sun exposed areas. My face neck and arms. Its very welty. Its bumpy and angry red. It itches and burns, it lasts for about 7 to 8 days when I get it.

Thanks to you all. The steroid shot didn't do anything for me that I can tell. The doctor even said that I would have this burst of energy for the next 2 days. I was really looking forward to that, but nothing new, seems my joints are hurting even more now and very stiff. Pain and itching never went away, I did get some sleep last night due to me bumping up my neurontin (nerve pain med) dosage in addition to the prednisone dosage. So maybe it's helping some?

Chaya that is exactly what mine looks like, however I noticed last night that it is mostly on my left side. Who knows what the heck is going on. I just know this is not fun at all. Thanks again to you all. I'll let you know what the rheumie says.
