Dry skin may not appear dry.  Do you use a moisturizing lotion regularly on your feet?  Also, has your doctor checked you for foot fungus?

Also, the sore tip of tongue could be a sign of Vitamin B12 deficiency.  Ask your doctor to check your blood level of Vitamin B12 to see if it is low or low-normal.  Anything under 400 warrents a supplement, and if it is under 200, you will need injections or the nasal gel (Nascobol) to get it back into the normal range quickly.

Hi Veronica . . . I do get itchy palms and bottom of feet sometimes . . . along with an area on my thighs. The itch, for me, is not on the skin, but somewhere under the skin, so there is absolutely no relief in scratching and if I do scratch (the thigh) it will result in bruising. This is sometimes one of the first indications of an impending flare for me. Oh . . .and a brief painful ringing in my ear.

We do have the weirdest symptoms don't we?? I'm never sure how much of this is individual to me or if others have it too, but you will probably notice a pattern in your own symptoms which can warn you of upcoming flares.

I'm glad the others knew to have you check on the B12 . . . I didn't know that. Try wearing supportive shoes and socks. Put them on first thing in the morning. That actually helps ALL of my body pain issues. Because I'm not working I can wear my hiking shoes every day. They are "trail running" shoes (even though I never run) and they are a God-send because they are made to support the weight of a back-pack and the hiker on rough terrain . . . . I accidentally realized that they are very helpful to all my joint issues. The rheumy always took them off to check my feet and he always commented on the shoes, saying that they were like orthopedic shoes.

Sorry . . . diverted from the subject.

Anyway . . . wearing shoes might help and remember to list each symptoms (no matter how weird) so when you go the doc's he will have more clues.

Since your itching on the bottoms of your feet only comes when you are feeling poorly, my guess is that it is a mild form of neuropathy. I get the same thing when I've overdone things. Mine also appears on the bottoms of my feet or the palms of my hands. Sometimes it turns into a tingling feeling, like when your foot falls asleep - the tingling when you wake it back up. Mine goes away when I start taking care of myself - slowing down, eating right at the right times, sleeping, maybe napping, making sure I'm taking my meds.... Hope that helps,

The neuropathy is part of the lupus (or UCTD) package... these little pins and needles don't seem to be enough to warrent anther Dr & another Dx. Another little secret surprise symptom, aren't we happy!

Wow, someone else has the itching feet!  Mine are only in the arches of my feet and itch so bad I could scratch til they bleed at times.  But, it's like someone else said, it's under the skin and you get no relief no matter how much you scratch.  I've asked my rheumy and he acted like I was crazy.  Went to a dermatologist and she tested and said I had no fungus, infection, etc.  She gave me an anti-itch cream, but it didn't help.  I was beginning to think I was imagining it.  Glad to know it's another wierd Lupus symptom and not in my head as the doctors suggest!
