I saw my GYN today for an ultrasound to check on my IUD and she noticed some fluid around my left ovary.  She said it looked like I had a ruptured ovarian cyst and that was most likely causing the pain.  She said that with the amount of fluid that is still there that it appears that it was a substantial size (~3-5cm) and that would cause extreme pain.  It all makes sense now.  No more pain for me for the last few days so I guess that drama is over.  yeah

OUCH!!! Those are WAY painful. Glad it ruptured Des. *sigh* womanhood *sigh* Even better, I'm glad it wasn't something that required more tests, more meds and more pain. Blessings!

I have had that exact thing happen, several times. Ouch. The pain is terrible!

I am so happy that its all cleared up though, once they rupture and the fluid starts clearing out, all is usually well.

I have had my share of those darn ovarian cysts too - they sure hurt something aweful! Glad that's all it was though, cuz the alternatives are much less fun to think about. Incidentally, since starting a gluten-free diet 2 years ago, I haven't had any ovarian cysts big enough to cause that nasty pain...I'm thinking there's a connection, but don't know for sure.

Hi, Des. Glad you got the pain figured out. I guess that's good news, but the cyst bursting sounds scary! I've never dealt with that one before. It is great news that you require no new meds and no new tests! Yeah! At least I'm getting a head's up on things to consider from people who've been there! Take care,

Des, that is really good news. Well, now that it's over it's good news. When I still had my ovaries, before I went through those years when our ovaries decide it's time to retire, I could tell you which ovary was ovulating because of the pain I felt. I can't imagine how much pain a large ovarian cyst could cause if just releasing a teeny tiny little egg hurt enough for me to feel it every month. I'm very relieved that you now know what was causing all your pain.

  I'm glad the doc figured out the cause of your pain. Those are very painful. I had a couple to rupture before my ovaries were removed...(((Hugs))). Hopefully, you will be feeling alot better in a few days. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Well, yippee, Des. You have to be relieved to know what was causing the pain AND to be suffering so much less. They are not fun! Glad yours is on its way out.

I totally understand Des. I just had basically the same thing happen but they were thinking tubal pregnancy with me because of the pain. THANK GOODNESS they were wrong.

Wow, Des, that ovarian stuff really hurts and in the funniest places sometimes. I had pco disease and severe endometriosis due to interferon and lost all my repro organs, I can't say I miss them when I remember that kind of pain. I'm glad they figured it out and can take care of it now.

Des, I'm glad you finally got some answers. Those cysts can be really painful and yours sounded pretty big. I had a few of them when I was in college and they hurt so bad I was sure there was something really wrong. I hope you are getting relief now and that you have been able to get some rest.
