Im new to the forum. I just recently started on prednisone@20mg then had to up it to 40mg.. I have started to decrease it back to 20mg. I really have a lot of questions about meds and what others are going through.

I was diaq in 2005 with Lupus. I was fine for a couple of years and now the last year has been a up hill battle. I have lupus,aps,celiac (wheat allg) my meds are pred,plaq,prilosec,asprin,Imuran,I cant remember what else. :^} I was told that I have mast call disease. Has anyone heard of this? and can you help me understand it. Also I have developed all these food allg that I never had before. could it be due to my Immune system over acting Im so lost right now.

Hey Jessie . . . I hope you find this new topic!! I was afraid your post would be lost in the Twinkie topic. Just wanted to welcome you to the forum. I'm sorry I don't know anything about mast cell disease. I know most of these diseases have a wide range of how severe they can be. I hope your symptoms aren't severe. But it sounds like you must have been going through quite a flare with 40 mg of pred. Glad to see you are tapering. Maybe some of the others know something about the mast cell disease. Blessings!

I hope I can keep tapering the pred I will see in a couple of weeks, but I have a feeling that my Dr will have me go back to the 40mg. I feel like everytime I go they see something new. Im still learning about flares and how to reconize when having one. I'm very active (well was) and find it hard to accept the fact there is something going on with me. It just that so much has happened over the last year I feel as if I cant get over the bump.

Hi Jessie, welcome to the forum from one Celiac to another. I was dx with Celiac in 2003 and Lupus in 2005. I am sorry you continue to have problems. You know they say when you get one autoimmune disease you are more likely to get others too. Mine started to spiral out of control in Aug 2002, it wasn't until 2006 that things seemed to settle down and that was after being on Imuran for over a year and a half. I continue to have various problems but hoping a change in meds (maybe soon) will help.

I am sorry, I don't know anything about mast cell disease. Please feel free to ask more questions and let us know how you are getting along. Take care
