Went to neurologist, says he can't help, increased the meds for pain, and thats it. When I asked him why were my muscles wasting he just said "I dont know"
Sat on my rollator (walking frame and seat) outside the bank in the rain and rang dear Prof. Hughes of world renown and told him I am at my wits end.
I am convinced now more than ever that my problems are autoimmune based.
I feel like getting on a plane to London and presenting at the Louise Coote Unit where the good Prof wants me.
I dont think the irish doctors really want to think laterally or research why one individual is so ill for some unknown reason. there are too few docs around here and most are overworked trying to do what they can for the illnesses and diseases they DO understand.
I dont think anything went right for me today bar the fact that I was nice to neuro and he was nice too and I stayed calm but no answers, not even hope, just keep taking the painkillers.

I would go to London too. I would rather travel any distance than not know what is wrong or have effective treatment. I wish I could help you more than to say I empathize with you, but though each of us faces a battle everyone's is different.

I envy you living in Ireland though.

well, I agree with both. One morning I could not stay in bed with the jiggs jerks and pain that I got up took my two wee dogs down to the seafront not far away by car just as dawn was breaking, I was facing east and I never in my life felt the shear joy of being alive. I had a fab blood red dawn, the smell of seaweed, the trashing of waves and the screaching of the gulls, an odd walker and I felt in paradise.
I love where I am living but GOD forbid our health service is in a shambles!!

With both my family and my husband's having Irish origins we kind of wish we could visit Ireland. Unfortunately that is financially impossible for now. I have spent 3 months trying to find recordings of someone speaking or singing in Gallic for the baby, my grandma used to have one with both that she played for me when I was very young but it was lost years ago. It was soothing and I miss it myself. I actually think your health care system might be in better shape than ours here in the US in many ways. It took so long for me to get treatment and I nearly died, up until then I was told it was all in my head. I have a friend who is deaf and her doctors took years to figure it out which made growing up very difficult for her, they called her retarded until the school did a hearing screening in Kindergarten. She had good insurance.
