I went for my IVP this morning. What a mess. Originally I was scheduled for the testing center across from the hospital. But, because I'm allergic to iodine, they changed it to the hospital (you know, in case I decided to stop breathing or something).

Got there before 8 this morning. Got called in at 8:45. Changed into my beautiful hospital attire and got started. The tech took my history, etc. Then took some pictures. She went to show them to the radiologist. about an hour later, she came back and said "we can't do this test here...your doctor ordered tomograph (sp?) and that can only be done at the testing center. So - I called over there and they are waiting on me to walk you over there and they will take you right in." So - after much adieu, the test finally got done.

Here is the interesting part:
This was my first experience of being in a hospital, telling the staff that I have lupus and getting that glazed over, heading shaking look of "I have no idea what you are talking about".

Glad the test went okay. LOL I get that glazed I have no idea what you are talking about look all the time. Heck even my family gets that look.

Kim . . . I'm glad its over . . . the glazed look is likely *Gee, I should know how that disease work . . . but I'm really confused about it* Keep us posted when you get some results. glad they went the extra step and took care of everything today! Blessings!

Hey Kim,

 

I'm glad it all went smoothly!  Good thing you could just walk over the center where the Tomography was. I had a tomograph done when I was about 17 years old.  It was to help in the doctors figure out what needed to be done to correct my TMJ issues. 

 

So when do you get your results back?  Are you back down to your original prednisone dose?  I sure hope so!!!!

You have to love that glazed look - I always get that look when I can't get in to see my pcp and have to see a different doc. I had a pcp that I loved and when she left the area, it took me a while to find another one who didn't give me "the look". Take care and let us know what you find out about your results.

According to the tech yesterday, the doc would have the results yesterday afternoon, then, they would be transcribed and faxed to my doc.

I figure I'll wait until this afternoon and then give them a call.

I'll keep you posted.

I called my rheumy yesterday and asked about the prednisone. The nurse said she thought it was fine to do my drop to 9 mg today...but that she would talk to the doc and call me back.

Of course, no call back. So, I'm dropping to 9 mg and see how it goes.

Called the doc's office and he reviewed the results of my IVP and everything is normal.

Yeee hawww!!! Good news Kim!  Thanks for updating us.  So what is the next step?  Is there one?

No next step, I guess. All the tests came back normal from the urologist... I have an appointment to go back to see him in three months.

So - now I just work on trying to get off the prednisone.

Excellent!  What a relief to not have any more doctors to see for a while.  You feel okay on that 9mg of pred?  You'll probably know better tomorrow too.

So far, so good with the 9 mg pred.  I'll stay here for two weeks like everyone suggested.

I think I might actually have two weeks that I don't have a doctor appointment!  woo-hoo...
