Some lab results

I just have a few minutes before I go to pick the kids up from school.  My new pcp went over a bunch of my labs with me this morning.  He didn't go over any of the ones my rheumy ordered - it sounded like he wanted my rheumy to do that since he was the one who ordered them. I had a bunch of stuff out of whack.  My liver enzymes were high and he seems to think it's related to  lupus and wants to watch it carefully and I may end up seeing a specialist about it.  Also,  a bunch of my hormones were out of whack.  He said that testosterone regulates most of your other hormones and that my testosterone levels were almost non existant which threw of all my other hormones.  he's putting me on testosterone cream that I put on the insides of my wrists and he said it should help decrease the severity of my fatigue and some of my overall crummy feeling.  I won't get the cream for a few days because it had to be sent to a compounding pharmacy.  I did a little bit of reading and it sounds like lupus and low testosterone levels go hand in hand (I never knew that).  Also, my cholesterol was a little high, so we talked about diet and exercise to bring that down.  I'll see him again in 6-8 weeks.  He's a really great doc and very thorough and easy to talk to.  On a positve note, I had lost 5 pounds since I saw him a week and a half ago. I see my rheumy in about 4 weeks, so I guess I'll talk about those other labs then. I'll try to catch up with everyone tomorrow since I have a busy night.

Hey hippi!! I hope the testosterone helps. I've heard a little about how helpful it can be when its needed. Its always wonderful to get a bit of hope with a new treatment!! Keep us posted on that. Were you working on weight loss??? If so . . .GREAT!!! Those liver enzymes could be out of wack from your meds so don't fret too much till you figure out why they are high. 4 weeks??? YUP! I would call and see if you can go over things sooner. You don't need the stress of waiting that long to understand what's going on. . . or to start treating the problem. Hi Hippi. Congrats on the weight loss I've lost 6, I'll post an update in a minute. Also, I haven't been able to control my cholesterol very well so I was placed on lipitor long ago :( I never knew that about testosterone.  Sounds like your PCP was really thorough.  Teriffic!  I hope you're feeling okay.  Love, Butterflake  

I'm still waiting on my testosterone cream - I checked this afternoon and they still didn't have it. I've been feeling really crummy these last few days. I hope if my hormones get more balanced I'll feel at least a little better. I've been so fatigued I've been going to bed at 7:30 or 8 when my kids go to bed.

My liver enzymes have been off in the past, within a few weeks on Imuran they return to normal. I would call your rheumy RIGHT AWAY, inflammtion in the liver can cause damage/scarring which can lead to seroisis and eventually liver failure. Don't mean to alarm you or anything, but it isn't something to mess around with if the lupus is causing inflammation in the liver.

I knew that autoimmune diseases and low DHA levels went hand in hand but testosterone? Great. I will have to ask for my levels to be checked post baby. I wish you luck.
