Ok you guys who have been at this a long time. I dont understand something? My blood work is trickling in to me. I have High Anticardiolipins but my C4 was through the roof? I see you guys have low complement levels. My CBC was fine so cancer doesnt seem to be indicated like I saw on Google lol. ack!!!!!!!! I am trying to understand SLE and it evades me everytime! I am at relative risk for a cardiovascular event but my cholesterol is LOW. wth? They did a dilute Russel Viper Venom and the norm range was 1-44 and I was a 39 which was again normal range. I like! normal but wth is a snake test doing in here?

Take a look at the following link on Complement levels:
www.labtestsonline.org/understanding/analytes/complement_levels/test.html
Read it all the way to the bottom. I hope you find the answers you are looking for, take care.

When both mine were high I developed mild atrophy of the heart, which healed according to the cardiologist when the flare went away, but took a while. You might want to see a cardiologist or have an EKG done if you havent had one recently, esp if you've had heartburn pain or pressure or even neck and shoulder pain.
It's good you are getting your bloodwork. Normal according to the doctor does not always mean normal, it may mean they don't want to deal with it or feel nothing can be done.

You need treatment for the anticardiolipid antibodies and to chill on the complement levels. They may be just part of your natural state- the normal range was developed according to averages NOT what your body considers normal. Believe me some of those tests just don't work for some people, every single person is unique. With my white cell counts what most doctors would blow off as okay actually means I have an infection and need antibiotics before I become seriously ill. Also high complements can mean your body is getting ready for something. Complements tend to be low AFTER a flare, or after a flare has lasted a long time. My rheumy is so unimpressed with using complements to measure anything I have NEVER had mine done.
