Scleritis or eye inflammation?

Hi there,

I was just curious if anyone here has ever had Scleritis or eye inflammation?  I do not have Lupus but I do have Scleritis of the eye, and I am looking for someone to relate to, and I have read Lupus can cause eye inflammations.

RA causes it too, I have had three different inflamitory problems with my eyes all of which my opthamologist blames on my RA. So far I have been lucky they clear up fairly quickly with steroid drops but you have to be careful to get good treatmet because they can cause real problems.

Ditto see an eye dr. I have to go yearly for my Plaquenil prescription, and just since this Jan. have started to have a few periods of feeling like something was stuck in my eye, argh! helloooo, the dr. saw the abrasions coincidently on my last appt. and recommended over the counter lubricant drops. They help immensely, and my scarey difficulty swallowing episodes I think are connected to lack of tears and saliva. Welcome to our autoimmune disease world of fun and pleasure.

Lots of lupus and RA patients have eye problems. A good opthalmologist will be able to help you.

Yes, I have had that several times... This was the last thing that happened to me before I got the diagnose of Lupus...
The last time I had it ... my eyeball hurt so bad and it lasted 13 days... I never missed work...just kept using the meds and hot wash clothes over my eyes when I could... that is the only soothing thing I found.... thankfully, I haven't had this in almost two years....

I was just at a regular eye exam and was told I had iritis(inflamation of the iris) and it was thought that it was linked to my having had Lyme and now....... we are trying to rule out Lupus so from what I have been told there is a connection between the inflamation and lupus.
