Wasn't surprised when I read that Unum was the outfit messing with you. The company I worked for at the time I was first diagnosed with Lupus 15 years ago had Unum as the employee Disability Provider. I had just been released from 3 weeks in the hospital with severe pneumonia, weighed 100 lbs, my hair was falling out, and I was too weak to do more than stumble back and forth between the bathroom and my bed.
My doctor wanted me to stop working and get the Lupus under some control. He did all the paperwork and jumped through all their hoops. They had the audacity to call a month later and tell me they were denying me any benefits by claiming that "SLE Lupus is NOT a debilitating disease, we have people with Lupus working for us and they're just fine". Outrageous. Hope you do join that class action suit against them. Would love to see you win a huge settlement for their unethical behavior. The last thing you need is to get sicker because of the financial stress their lack of morality causes you.
Please keep us up on how things go. Am rooting for you! Hope you feel the support and concern being sent your way. Hugs!
