hello to every one I don't come in hear like I use to but I hope everyone in here is doing well enough. So here is my question does the butterfly rash ever go away? My ckeeks always look like I have blush on which sometimes looks ok if I have makeup but without makeup my god I look awful. And I wear sunscreen on my face but sometimes I get a rash not as bad as I have had before but I still get it and I can't wash my face even every other day b/c it dries my face out so bad. so I was just wondering if anyone had some advice for me.

Hi!  I have not been diagnosed with lupus yet, but I do have a butterfly rash across my cheeks.  Mine is always there to some degree.  It gets worse when I have a flare or forget my sunscreen.  Like you, mine looks ok with makeup but bad without it.  I have had it for several years.  I really didn't realized what it was until a few years ago when my doc mentioned lupus.  Mine also gets worse after a hot bath.

Jk, It took couple of yrs. before they diagnose me, mine is scared there is nothing they can do. I have the butterfly rash and also the rash on my arms, the arms are not as bad as my face. I get real bad if out in the sun. You shoudn't take hot baths you will get red and dry your skin. My rheumy wrote a perscription for Amlactin Moisturizing Lotion for dry skin. People do break out with rashes some of them go away. The makeup hides most of my rash. Take care!! Debbie

Hi jk !! I have the cheek rash all the time too. And I only splash with water most days. Sometimes I apply moisturizer and use that as "soap". I do use soap sometimes, but mostly not. Make sure you have your thyroid levels checked because an under-active thyroid can cause dry skin AND a lot of the same symptoms as connective tissue diseases. I actually don't where any makeup except lipstick. It just feels bad on my face. A couple times a year, for very special occasions, I'll wear the mineral powder makeup (a knock-off of Bare Minerals). It works well to cover the redness. Glad you decided to post. I hope you've been feeling ok. Blessings!

Thanks for reposting everyone, joinery what do you mean its scared like is it raised or just discolored? I am feeling probably the best since finding out I was sick which as been two years now. Wow thats so odd it doesn't feel like that long. Hope everyone is doing as well as I am and if not take it one day at a time.

Jk, Sorry haven't been on last couple of days. Yes the cheecks on my face is raised around my jaw is discolored Docs. said it will never go away.
