Yes, I was truly blessed. Joey is now walking and into everything. I also wanted to add that I was able to take plaquenil and some darvocet while breastfeeding. I got in agood 7 months before I had to start Imuran and give up nursing. When my hands were hurting too much to hold him, I propped him up with pillows, lol. I'm getting in as much baby snuggles as I possibly can, becuase I won't risk having anymore, but both my boys are strong healthy and very smart. Baby Joey just turned a year old in July and he is wearing a 2 toddler clothes. Sooo, don't give up, you never know what wonderful blessings the Lord may send you. God bless you all and MANY PRAYERS for healthy happy pregnancies for those of you trying.

Thanks for your amazing answers. I know my sister's death was quite unusual and very fast. I just came back to Geneva (Switzerland) where I moved to a couple of years ago. When I went to my ob-gyn to tell him about my sister dying unusually fast from SLE and another sister being diagnosed with an auto-immune disease he simply looked at me and ordered all of the tests that you guys talked about in these posts. He was concerned because of the high number of blood clots in my uterus in my previous pregnancy and the strep bacteria that infiltrated the sac. It could be an auto-immune thing or not. We'll see. I got several tests done and will wait for the answer next week. By reading your threads I see pregnancy can be accomplished and hopefully I can educate myself about these illnesses if not for myself for my other sister. Thanks! I will begin a new thread once I hear about the results.

Lailisima, It really great that the GYN is taking things seriously and checking into it. But I would do whatever you need to do to see a rheumatologist too. You might need a referral from your primary care doc. But you might be surprised at how l-o-n-g it can take to get a first appointment (months). You'll also want to make sure that the rheumy has a good background in lupus. They don't necessarily. You can get a list of rheumy referrals from your local lupus chapter (link to find your local chapter at the end of my signature). Lailisima, I didn't notice your posts until today, I feel bad for being so lax. I'm so sorry for your sister's untimely death. As Rosie said, that kind of rapidity is quite unusual for lupus. For most of us it is a long slow progression of symptoms that aren't necessarily death threating, although not minor either. Plus a large group that has to deal with organ involvement quite quickly. Otherwise, Rosie has pretty much said exactly what I would say -- I think we even have a number of the same links in our signatures! Auto-immune diseases are so very tricky, and they present totally differently with each individual patient, even within families - lupus is sometimes referred to as "the disease with 1000 faces" - or is it 10,000?, I've forgotten. I'm so glad your doctor is listening to you and taking the information seriously. Best of luck, and I look forward to your post.
