Well, I saw my gyno today about my insanely insane periods. LOL.  According to her experience, endometrial ablation isn't recommended for young women (I'm 34) with fibromyalgia.  Apparently, after having an ablation done, the fibro makes the pain unbearable.  Women have cramps all month long, not just during their periods. YUCK!!!  Plus, with the amount of bleeding I have, it likely won't work.

 

SOOOOOO.  I'm having a laporoscopic hysterectomy at the end of October.  Just 3 little puncture holes in my belly and two tiny stiches on my vagina where she'll take the cervix.  I'll be left with only my ovaries.  I'll be in the hospital for 3 days.  Only because I'm on blood thinners and they have to take me off them for the surgery, and then get me back to my normal levels before I leave the hospital.  Otherwise, I should have a quick recovery (we'll see about that), and I shouldn't have anything to worry about.  They'll pump me full of antibiotics in advance, and I'll be going up on my prednisone.  She said it's the best option for me by far.  No more periods!!!!!  YAY!!  I'm a little nervous and excited at the same time.  This has been the bain of my existance since I was 11 years old.  I wish I had had the courage to do this 10 years ago.

(((((((( Ginny )))))))))) *long sigh* Finally!! I sure understand your mixed feeling on this!! I'm with you there YEAH!!! I would have let them rip it out at 30!! I hope it goes just that smoothly for you Ginny!! Sorry you can't have it sooner. I know you have the busy season and you probably planned it for after the big Wedding season. But sorry you have to think about it that long. Time to put a few meals in the freezer!! Glad you'll have rid of the curse!!! Blessings!

Ginny I couldn't wait for my partial hysterectomy I had my ovaries out by laporoscopic. But went right into manapause It was perrty bad in the begining but now I'm through it!!! It was the best thing for me. Hope everything goes well for you. Debbie

I'm still having mixed feelings about it this morning.  just nervous about the risks and possible complications.  I'm sure I'll get over that soon enough!

 

I'm keeping my overies, so that menopause doesn't kick in.  I can't go on HRT due to my history of stroke.  So everything else, including the fallopian tubes are gonzo. 

 

Yes, Rosie, I have to wait until the end of October because of the busy wedding season that I still have left.  I would do it right now if I could.  I'll have to endure 3 more periods before this is done.  I think I can manage that!

No one would guess how miserable three periods could be . . . unless they've dealt with your issues. I hope thinking about this for a while will bring you to a confident decision. Hemorrhaging every month isn't a great option either. Blessings!

I have been lurking for awhile but when I saw your post I had to reply. I have fibro with lupus and aps and I had an ablation done four years ago and it completely stopped my periods and they (the periods) were extremely bad. I didn't have bad cramps or pain afterwards like your gyno said. I wish you luck with your surgery.

Ginny, I can certainly understand your mixed feelings. Hopefully it will help your gynecological problems, but any kind of surgery is a little scary, especially when you have health problems. I'll be keeping you in my thoughts and prayers.
