Does anyone else notice really ugly veins webbing up their legs?  I was at my dermatologist today and I mentioned that he'd have to put on sun glasses to view my legs and that they were uglied up with veins as well.  He looked at the pattern and said webbing verins was common with Lupus.  Something I just didn't know.  Poop-I'm doomed to pants the rest of my life.

I refuse to wear long pants on hot days even though I have really ugly varicose and spider veins. If the sight on my veins turns someone off so be it. It's their problem. I've had people ask me about them, offer "cures" and the name of good vascular surgeons that could "zap" them. Tried that - the vascular guy wouldn't touch them because I am on immunosuppressants. So I live with them....hope you can come to "appreciate" yours - [saying that tongue in cheek - LOL]

I have one short buldging out from in back of leg, I got this one after my 1st preg., just today, I was telling my son about how he gave to me when I got pregnant w/him and I 1st became aware of it when my cousin wife and I were in the mall, strolling our babies in front of his dad and my cousin, I was wearing my nice denim skirt, then my cousin says 'what is that big thing on your leg?', This was the first time I knew I had one. It was so funny. this was like almost 20yrs ago.

Mine seem to be all over.  Just the other day in class I noticed some pain in the back of my leg and there they were, fresh veins.  My legs might as well be a purplish blue color, because that's about all you can see.  Granted they do not stick up or anything.  Actually that dermo.  said that the self tanner helps to hide it.  We'll see if I can put that on without turning orange now:)

This topic reminds me of a question I've had for a while. I've got lots of broken blood vessels on my face - some elsewhere on my body as well....but I'm really starting to get upset with the number of red and blue "webs" on my face. They don't stick up, are small, but sure make me look red and blotchy (and not at all jolly, lol) because of how many there are. Maybe it's just aging skin - I went through menopause at 40. Has anyone else been told broken blood vessels are common in Lupus/AI?

I will ask the rheumie in Nov. - but in the meantime, anyone else suffer from the splotches?

I have those kind of veins on my left leg only. I wear shorts in the summer, I really don't care what my leg looks like. It is all demented because of the way it healed from my accident so I think when people look at my leg they see it bent out of shape and hopefully don't notice the veins.
