I'm about to leave to go to the eye doc!  They are doing some kind of test today to check for plaquenil retinopathy!  I'm a little nervous.  I'll let y'all know when I get home!  Love you guys, Judy

Okay! I am back from my 2 and 1/2 hours eye doc visit! Whew! I didn't know there were that many test to be done on you eyes! Anywho...I DO NOT have plaquenil retinopathy! Thank you Jesus! The inflammation that I had in my Left eye did scar it and I have to have much stronger lenses...AND...the pressure is still high so i have to start drops for that...AND...he wants to do some type of procedure to block the tear duct and force moisture into my eyes because they are extremely dry. Anyone ever have that done? Over all, i'm a just thrilled that my retina and optic nerve are healthy!!! God Bless You guys, JUDY

Oh!!! Good news Judy.  Praise the Lord!

 

I've never had the tear duct thing done, but I have heard of it.  Is it the procedure where they place little plugs in the ducts?  Apparently it's super quick and easy, and you hardly feel a thing.  I was told that because I have sjogrens that someday I might need the plugs.  So far so good!

Problems with your eyes must be real scary Judy. I'm also real happy that your retina and optic nerve are healthy! Thank goodness for modern medicine and drops that can help high pressure in your eyes. And thanks for the reminder that my eye check-up is overdue.

Judy-my sister had a slightly different procedure done to her tear ducts-she kept getting calcium deposits in them so she had them cauterized. The effect is the same-the duct is permanently blocked but hers involved basically burning them with a lazer-she said it was a somewhat unpleasant few minutes but the discomfort was over as soon as the procedure was and she has not had problems with dryness or returning calcium deposits since.

(((((all my homeys))))))))))) You guys are the best! My eye doc is going to hold off on the procedure for now because I have used up alot of my 12 allotted office visit from Medicaid. He gave me some soothe xp drops to use for now. I am truly thankful for the fact that there is no retinopathy! I cherish my vision. I don't think i'll ever take it for granted again! Judy, Others have posted that they had the plugs put in the tear ducts. It stops your tears from draining. I found some interesting info on dry eye. It turns out that lack of moisture is not the only problem. The underside of the upper eye lids actually secret an oily-like substance that lubricates. In Sjogren's, this gland does not work properly. Very interesting. I'm SO glad your eyes are ok !! Can the scarring heal? is it permanent damage? I hope the new drops help. Wow! Who would think you could actually use up 12 visits to an eye doc !! ((((((((( Judy )))))))) I hope the plugs help, when you eventually get them. Blessings!
