so confused....

 

  It has been a long time since I have  been on. Lots has happened and  very bisy. Storms here in florida and close aunt had passed away.

    Well here it is in a nut shell... I am so tired of every one saying I do  not have lupus.

   Now these are millitay lab and the ranges so  hope someone can desifer for me..

in june of 2005   RNP        115             (0-19)

                  SMITH ENA         55              (0-19)

          Myoglobin           POSITIVE        ( negative)

 

 

In july of 2006      Anti Smith  29     (0-19)

                            Anti    RBP      72     (0-19)

 

November 05  ANA SCR   Positive    (negative)

                                 RNP     72          (0-19)

                         Smith ENA 29         (0-19)

                      ANA pattern               Speckled.

 

   CAN ANYONE HELP ME BEFORE I LOOSE MY MIND......................................

Hi Denise . . . I'm not really to good with the blood work . . but I did a little searching and found a bit of info on the Smith ENA (below) The speckled pattern in ANA is actually common in lupus. Not an absolute . . . but sure does help a dx. Smith ENA From http://www.aruplab.com/guides/ug/tests/0050085.jsp Reference Interval: 29 AU/mL or less: Negative 30-40 AU/mL: Equivocal 41 AU/mL or greater: Positive Interpretive Data: Smith antibody is very specific for systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) but only occurs in 30-35% of SLE cases. The presence of antibodies to Smith is often associated with renal disease.

Thank you than what is it that the drs look for in blood work to determine you have lupus.

Hi Tink,

 

I know this is a very frustrating situation to be in.  Took me about 7 years of symptoms, blood tests and good doctors to get a diagnosis.

 

Other blood work they'll look at is you ANA, ESR, CBC, liver function tests, kidney function, Compliment levels. There's probably more I haven't remembered.

 

They also rely heavily on symptoms. If you're presenting minor symptoms with no skin rashes, it will take a long time to figure it all out. As symptoms increase, they'll pay more attention. 

 

You are being treated with medications right?  Who's telling you you don't have lupus?  If you're getting the runaround you should consider getting new doctors.  You've probably been through a bunch already!  I went through 3 rheumies before I got someone to take me seriously.  I hope you can find some reassurance soon.

thanks, i have the symptoms and my dr has gotten me SSD but now heis saying who said i have Lupus. Go figure.

Denise, Join the club . . .we often refer to ourselves as the "YoYo's" because we get dx'd and then undx'd readily. At the end of my signature, there is a link "4 of 11". If you click on that link, you will see the criteria for lupus dx. If you have 4 of the 11 criteria the doctor "can" dx lupus. You actually don't need ANY + bloodwork . . . LOL !! Blessings!
